environmental report

i know my blog will soon morph into something far off from the original thought of what it started out as and posting environmental reports may lead to a little on the controversial end. we were able to get a few vws (in general, 8-10 gallon tanks…still lots of money these days) together for a sunday drive up to incline from our meeting destination on mt. rose hwy. all incline means to us is the best darned burrito for miles at t’s rotisserie (i think they’ve been mentioned before). well the environmental report is this: t’s rotisserie was once a major styrofoam container supporter. they wrap their burritos in paper/foil and place in a paper bag with some fresh chips. anything remotely gooey or wet was put into a styrofoam container with a plastic lid and all drinks served were in the same. well…yesterday i noticed everyone’s drinks had little logos printed on the cups and our take home cucumber salad and green sauce were packaged in compostable paper containers and compostable lids…so that must mean those drinking cups that sported a little logo were environmentally friendly! go t’s! just another reason why i love supporting the small guy!

guzzle ‘em down boys

we keep watching the price of gas go up in increments of about 3 cents a day and i’m sure it should be up around $6 a gallon by year end. we love that our little tanks of our own seem to get the job done wherever we’re needed. the gas prices still haven’t seemed to bother the traffic around town or the amount of bikes i see on the road. we have had a few calls this week from people looking for vws “because of gas mileage.” we actually ride our bikes for pure enjoyment however we’ve found ourselves not wanting to even get in any of the vee-dubs for car events. coming soon: slogoinvws bike club

vw gifties

yes, i love vw gifties. most of which are always unique meaning there’s no one else that usually has quite the same unless we accidentally get two and i happen to be feeling extra nice that day and share with a good friend (i always feel extra nice). this year has been extremely profitable in the vw giftie area: the clock my daddy made me, the hibiscus shifter knob that moses made me and this addition…the last of the prints from my brother. i say last because over the years, my bro has surprised me occasionally with an extra print from a run that he did but recently he’s quit so no more prints. it’s been well stretched and should last a lifetime. thanks chad!

remember me?

it saddened me to see my baby boy's red wagon baking itself away in the sun. he brought it home last year from under his grandparent's deck which kept it in excellent shape. i decided to wash and wax it up so it could become the next conversation piece inside the house. the wood needs a little treating and the wax brought back out the red however the absolut air sticker needed no restoration at all! it must be all that anti-aging ink jody used to print them back in 1994...
